Everybody Wins!

South Florida

Traffic is awful, the tropics are active, and spiral notebooks are on sale.  It's official, Back to School season is here!

With school budgets tight and resources stretched thin, field trips may be few and far between this year. Through Power Lunch,  reading pairs get to explore new worlds and stretch their imaginations each week - all within the pages of a good book.

Everybody Wins! is looking forward to a wonderful school year.  Welcome to our many new Reading Mentors, and welcome back to our veterans.  Power Lunch will have another successful year because of your dedication.

In terms of what they can do for the country, I can't think of anything that can be more useful, productive, or worthwhile for a company thinking about how they can make a difference than supporting this program.

- Senator and Power Lunch mentor

Ted Kennedy (D-MA)

Bea Longchamp joins EW!SF

Bea is an AmeriCorps member and serves as Volunteer Outreach Coordinator.  Bea's position is generously funded by EW! USA and a grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service.

EVERYBODY WINS! South Florida needs your support.  Please make a contribution to share a love of reading with the children in our community

Power Lunch is a lunchtime literacy and and mentoring program which which takes volunteers into elementary schools and matches them one-on-one with second and third grade students. The volunteers then go once each week and read aloud with their students.

Everybody Wins! in Ted Kennedy Tribute Video

Everybody Wins! is proud to have been mentioned in the video tribute to Senator Ted Kennedy on August 25 at the Democratic National Convention. Senator Kennedy is a Power Lunch reader with Everybody Wins! DC and is an honorary board member of Everybody Wins! Metro Boston. The video tribute spoke of how important his service is to him and included an interview with one of his reading partners, Jasmine, who is now in college getting a degree in education.

If you would like to sponsor a future Everybody Wins! South Florida newsletter, opportunities are available.  Please contact Everybody Wins! for more information.

One mentor. One child. One book at a time.
